Eagle Airport to Aspen & Snowmass - Private Car Service & Airport Transfer

Eagle Airport to Aspen and Snowmass – Private Car & Shuttle Service

Reservation form

Eagle airport to Aspen is a longer trip than most people expect, and that’s honestly the best part. The Eagle County Regional Airport puts you about ninety minutes from Aspen instead of ten – which sounds like a downgrade until a storm rolls in and every flight into Aspen’s own airport gets scrubbed. Mr. Chauffeur has driven I-70 and Highway 82 since 2016, so we know which exit backs up on a Friday and which door at EGE you’ll actually walk out of. Book an EGE to Aspen car service once, and flight tracking, ski gear, and door-to-door drop-off just happen. For trips north of the valley, our Eagle Airport car service page covers Vail and Beaver Creek.

Distance and Drive Time from Eagle Airport to Aspen

The eagle airport to Aspen distance is about 65 miles. The drive typically runs 1 hour 30 to 1 hour 45 minutes. That is not bad. ASE sits just 4 miles from town. It somehow still feels farther some days. Eagle County Regional Airport sits at roughly 6500 feet in Gypsum. It is on the flat and low end of the valley. The route runs west on Interstate 70 through Glenwood Canyon. It exits at Glenwood Springs. It then runs south on Highway 82 through the Roaring Fork Valley. The route passes through Carbondale. It passes through El Jebel. Then passes through Basalt. Finally goes into Aspen. Snowmass sits a few minutes closer. Heavy snow will slow you down. Glenwood Canyon can also be slow. Add twenty to thirty minutes for these conditions. Stop watching the clock.

The Route, and the Independence Pass Trap

Here’s the part almost nobody bothers to explain. Eagle County to Aspen has two possible roads, and only one exists most of the year. Independence Pass, the scenic shortcut over the Continental Divide, opens roughly late May through early November, weather depending, then closes completely – gates locked near Aspen and Twin Lakes – for the entire ski season. The postcard route a map app sometimes still suggests simply isn’t drivable from November through May.

It is a narrow climb even in summer. The climb has switchbacks. It goes past 12000 feet. It has steep drop offs. No van belongs anywhere near it. No SUV belongs anywhere near it. The honest answer for Eagle County airport to Aspen transportation is the valley route. This route is the best choice all year. You take Interstate 70 to Glenwood Springs. Then you take Highway 82. You must use winter tires from November through April.

An EGE to Aspen car service should be one flat number, not a surprise waiting at drop-off. Here’s the published rate, the same one dispatch quotes over the phone:

From EGE toSUV, 1-5Van, 1-9Van, 1-14Drive Time
Aspen$575$800$900~1h 40m
Snowmass$575$800$900~1h 45m

That’s the base fare, full stop. A few things move the total: gratuity, a $25 late-night surcharge from 10:30pm-6am, the $50 FBO gate fee for jet pickups, and holiday pricing. Nothing hidden – check the full rate list before you book.

Where We Drop Off in Aspen and Snowmass

Door-to-door means an actual door, not a parking lot near the resort. Add 10-20 minutes depending on the exact stop:

  • Snowmass Base Village
  • Snowmass Mall entrance
  • Aspen Highlands base
  • Buttermilk ski area
  • Downtown Aspen hotels
  • Woody Creek residences
  • Old Snowmass homes

Ask for an EGE to Snowmass transfer and you’ll pay the same flat rate as Aspen – no penalty for the quieter side of the valley. See our Denver to Aspen car service and Snowmass transfers pages for specific pickups.

Should You Fly into Eagle, EGE, or Aspen, ASE?

Honest answer: it depends on what you can’t stand to lose. ASE sits four miles from downtown Aspen, but it’s also one of the more weather-sensitive airports in Colorado, tucked into a narrow valley where low clouds cancel flights that land fine elsewhere. EGE sits lower, flatter, and further out – exactly why it stays open more often.

FactorEGEASE
Distance to Aspen~65 miles~4 miles
Weather reliabilityHigherLower, frequent holds
Flight and airline choiceMore carriers, more citiesLimited, smaller aircraft
Ground transfer time~1h 30m – 1h 45m~10-15 minutes

If your schedule can absorb a delay, ASE’s proximity is hard to beat. If you can’t afford to lose a ski day to a cancellation, EGE is the safer bet. Either way, Mr. Chauffeur meets both – including a dedicated Eagle Airport to Vail route.

Flights into Eagle County Airport

United flies into EGE all year. American flies into EGE all year. Delta flies into EGE all year. Air Canada adds seasonal routes. Alaska adds seasonal routes. The winter season of 2025 to 2026 brought growth. Delta added Minneapolis. Delta added JFK. United added Washington Dulles. American added Charlotte. This growth pushed the airport past 30 flights a day at peak.

Frontier pulled out in 2025. Expect the lineup to shift again for 2026/27 – check flyege.com closer to your trip. Grab your ski bags off the same small carousel everyone else is crowding, and your chauffeur is already outside with a sign.

Arriving by Private Jet at EGE

Private arrivals go through Signature Aviation, the FBO formerly known as Vail Valley Jet Center, on the south side of the field. Your chauffeur meets you planeside for a real meet and greet, handles bags, and gives you room to sort customs if you’re arriving from outside the US. A $50 FBO gate fee applies to private-jet pickups. Send the tail number and ETA ahead of time, and we coordinate directly with your crew.

Your Options: Private Car, Shared Shuttle, Rental, or Taxi

Looking for an Eagle airport to Aspen shuttle, a rental, or something else entirely? Here’s the unvarnished version.

OptionTypical CostDoor-to-DoorFixed PriceGear Space
Private car$575+ flatYesYesGuaranteed
Shared shuttle$60-90 / personNo, hub stopsSometimesLimited, shared
Rental car$80-150/day + parkingYou driveN/ADepends on vehicle
TaxiMeteredYesNoLimited

Shared shuttles win on price per head, especially solo travelers who don’t mind a stop in Vail. Renting means winter driving on Highway 82, chain laws, and Aspen’s steep parking rates on top of the rental. Taxis run the meter, so the fare quoted isn’t the fare you pay. A private transfer Eagle to Aspen costs more than a shuttle seat, but it’s the only option with a fixed price, a chauffeur watching your flight, and room for real ski gear – worth it for families, groups, or anyone who’d rather not gamble on a mountain highway in January.

Private Car & Limo Service

Skis, Boards and Luggage. What Actually Fits

Every ski gear transfer starts with a vehicle that fits the gear, not just the passengers. Every listing online says “plenty of room.” Here’s the real capacity:

VehiclePassengersHard Ski CasesStandard Luggage
SUV1-54-54-5
Van, 1-9up to 98-98-9
Van, 1-14up to 1412-1412-14

Car seats are provided free on request. If your group sits right at the edge of a vehicle’s capacity, size up – a cramped SUV stuffed with ski bags is nobody’s idea of a good start.

Booking Your Eagle Airport to Aspen Transfer

Flight tracking runs automatically, so a delay on the tarmac just shifts your pickup time – no calls, no fees. Your chauffeur waits at baggage claim with a name sign, loads the car, and drives. Booking a round trip? Confirm both legs up front – return times from Aspen often run earlier than the flight in. Plans change, so cancel up to 48 hours ahead at no charge. Absolutely wonderful! Niko was on time, efficient, a great driver and knowledgeable about Redrocks and the area. Clean, nice van for 12 of us. It rained before the concert so after dropping us off he came back and picked us up, letting us sit in the van until the rain passed. It was a helpful way to keep us dry and enjoy the concert fully when it started. Thanks Niko!
