The car drives west on I-70. It goes through Glenwood Canyon. It takes Exit 116 at Glenwood Springs. Then it gets on Highway 82. This road follows the Roaring Fork Valley. It goes through Carbondale. The 2027 Aspen Airport Closure: Why EGE Matters
ASE closes at 11:00 PM on April 4, 2027 and reopens at 7:00 PM on November 19, 2027. Local voters approved the shutdown under the Aspen Airport modernization, which rebuilds the runway to FAA standards. The 2026-27 ski season runs as usual, since ASE stays open up to April 4. The runway returns in late 2027, and the new terminal follows in 2029. Summer weddings & fall conferences will route through Eagle, which makes a Snowmass airport transfer from EGE the default plan.
