Highway 82: Independence Pass (Route Photo Coming Soon)

When the i70 corridor at Glenwood Canyon is closed, we recommend using Independence Pass to bypass this closure. Independence Pass sits at 12,095 ft above sea level. Restrictions apply for this route, such restrictions include: no vehicles longer than 35 ft, the route is only open during summer months (for 2024-2025: November 7th-May 26 ). This route is a very popular scenic route that many tourists wish to take in the summer months for the scenic appeal. Taking this route will not add significant time to travel and will actually be a shorter distance for travelers coming from Denver International Airport.
